Asset Categories

Asset categories organize your assets by class/category, which can then be subdivided into further categories. This allows you more control over the type of work and costs allowed for assets of a certain category and gives you the ability to report on asset data by category.

On the Asset Categories page, you can create or edit asset categories, create or edit problem types, and view or add reference documents.

Fixture Use

The fields provided at the top of the page function as the root asset category from which all other asset categories and problem types are branches or children. You can update this root level category and click Save to complete your updates.

Asset category details include:

  • Use Reactive Activities: Yes if you can add reactive activities to work orders for this asset category, No if not

To use reactive activities, you must also enable them on the Client Profile > Work Order Life Cycle page.

Fixture Use Categories

This section of the page shows the top branch of asset categories (such as HVAC, Plumbing, Building & Grounds, and so on).

For each asset category, you see the following information:

  • Name

  • Account Codes

  • Average Work Order Value (AOV)

  • Accrual

  • Recall Period

  • Accept SLA

  • Response SLA

  • Fix SLA

Create a new asset category

  1. Click New.

    A dialog opens.

  2. Enter the asset category Name, Description, and select its Status.

  3. Click Save.

The dialog closes and the new asset category appears in the asset category list.

View/edit asset category

To open an asset category, click the name of an asset category in the list. The asset category page opens with the same options as the previous page, but for the next branch of the asset category tree (in other words, the asset category you selected).

Asset category details include:

  • Use Reactive Activities: Yes if you can add reactive activities to work orders for this asset category, No if not

To use reactive activities, you must also enable them on the Client Profile > Work Order Life Cycle page.
